State Employee Credit Union - Raleigh, NC Patriot Building Company has enjoyed a successful relationship with the State Employees Credit Union by building two new facilities in Durham and Raleigh and renovating the Smithfield branch.

When the Raleigh branch called about a deteriorating drive up canopy and inadequate rain drainage, Patriot was quick to assist.

State Employee Credit Union - Raleigh, NC Attention was first directed to the canopy. In order to perform repairs with as little interference as possible to the customers, only one lane was blocked at a time. Repairs here consisted of the removal of the lower canopy band vinyl stop bead and replacement of the same with additional stucco added to the band to make it all appear natural.

State Employee Credit Union - Raleigh, NC After the band was repaired, we moved on to the retention pond and inadequate wier drainage.

The pond area itself was performing adequately but the water within the pond area was moving too rapidly from the wier in this pond, to the wier in the next level down causing over flooding in that pond area.
In addition, attention to the clogging of the wier opening itself was placed before us as a consideration for repair.

By creating a 16" square plate of steel, adding an 8" diameter hole in the middle of it, painting it to prevent rusting and securing it to the wier, over the existing roughly punched access hole, a measured amount of volume passing through it was achieved, thereby eliminating the over flooding of the 2nd level wier and retention pond.
Adding a sloped metal grate over the opening itself, reduced the debris blockage issue to acceptable levels and solved the immediate problems.

To accomplish this, it was determined that a variable plug valve would be mounted to the side of the wier and work began opening another 10" diameter hole in the wier, elevated slightly higher than the first hole.

After attaching the valve, we discovered that the arm used to operate the valve closure, would require some additional type of bracing up its length to maintain its straight up attitude.
A new brace mount was quickly penciled out, whisked off to the fabrication plant and returned, painted and mounted in place.
